After the widespread adoption of Non-fungible tokens, (NFTs), this year, top NFT art collections are now considered commodities.

NFTs are digital representations that represent real-world objects such as images, music and art. Although these cryptographically-unique tokens started in 2017, over $10 billion has changed hands to date, indicating that NFT art collections are likely here to stay.

Here are five NFT art collections that you can add to your portfolio if you intend to invest in this sub-sector.

1. CryptoPunks

CryptoPunks was one of the first NFT art collection to be launched on Ethereum. This asset contains 10,000 characters, each one uniquely created. They show digitally pixelated images of various animated figures.

CryptoPunks is a product of Larva Labs. It was launched in 2017 and has been one of the most popular NFT art collections of 2017.

One of the unique things about the project was that its founders, Matt Hall and John Watkinson, gave them away free of charge during the initial stages. You can only get your hands on the 10,000 unique CryptoPunks by bidding on it or purchasing it on a secondary market like OpenSea.

CryptoPunks broke several price records this year. CryptoPunk #3100 was purchased for 4,200 Ethereum or approximately $7.58 Million in March.

The CryptoPunks project continues to achieve record-breaking values, and has seen secondary all time sales of $1.66 billion. This makes it a valuable investment.

At press time, the PUNK token trades in the red zone, down 16.02% and trailing the wider crypto market. In the last 24 hours, the art collection has traded below the MA support price of $430,000.

2. Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC)

Next on our list are the top NFT art collections that include the fascinating Bored Ape Yacht Club. The BAYC includes a variety of bored primates. Each primate has its own unique style, look, and trait.

Celebrities have taken to the NFT collection and purchased digital images.

BAYC doubles as a member card for all owners. BAYC assets consist of 10,000 NFTs that are unique to the Ethereum blockchain.

Record sales have also been made in the NFT collection, with 101 NFTs from BAYC selling for $24.4 Million in London auction house Sotheby's early September.

BAYC's price performance is good and it recently reached an all-time high of $217.751 (ATH). BAYC trades at $205,330 as of press time, an increase of 9.7% over the previous 24 hours.

3. Meebits

Meebit, a collection of 20,000 unique 3D Voxel characters created by a custom algorithm and added to Ethereum's blockchain, is a recent addition to the top NFT Art collections.

Meebits were created by Larva Labs (the creators of CryptoPunks), and are meant to have a wider purpose than being traded on secondary NFT markets.

The development teams expect Meebits to be avatars for virtual worlds and games. The ERC-721 tokens offer a marketplace that allows 100 Meebits to be exchanged per transaction.

The asset was initially launched in May for 2.5 Ethereum. However, 1 Meetbit was eventually sold for 50 Ethereum.

4. Hashmasks (MASK)

Hashmasks, a digital art asset created from the contributions of more than 70 international artists, is called "Hashmasks". Suum Cuique Labs, Switzerland, launched this set of 16384 digital portraits.

Holders of Hashmasks NFTs can accumulate NCT tokens every day, which allows you to create a name for your Ethereum blockchain portrait. It is a top-rated NFT art collection that you should consider investing in.

Two layers of scarcity are present in digital artwork. They include general guidance for the consumer and complete control over their portraits.
