• Bill de Blasio, former NYC Mayor, is said to be considering his next run for office.
• De Blasio could run for the US House after he has opted out of the NY governor's race in 2022.
• According to the NY Post, Nicole Maliotakis (Republican of the Republican Party) is currently in charge of the district he's looking at.

While Bill de Blasio, the former New York City mayor, avoided the race for 2022 governor's office, he might be pursuing another race this year.

According to the New York Post, de Blasio has been considering running for Congress in the newly drawn 11th District just a month after leaving Gracie Mansion. Politico later confirmed the report.

NY-11 is currently located almost entirely in Staten Island's conservative borough. The new version would extend into Brooklyn, which includes de Blasio’s Democratic Park Slope neighborhood.

If de Blasio decides to run for the election, he will first face former Democratic Rep. Max Rose. Rose is an Army veteran who was given a Purple Heart as well as a Bronze Star for his service in Afghanistan. Rose lost the same seat to Maliotakis, in 2020. Before that, he ran an ad dedicated to denigring de Blasio. He called him "the worst mayor in New York City history."

Rose states, "That's all guys," in the longer, 15 second version of the ad. "Seriously. This is the entire ad.

De Blasio didn't announce he would be running for governor but he still left the possibility of seeking a second term.

De Blasio stated, "No, I'm not going to run for governor in New York State," in a video taken on his block in Park Slope. "But, I will dedicate every fiber of me to fighting inequality in New York."

He also made fun of himself, saying he "probably shouldn’t have gone to gym as much" when he was mayor. This refers to his Park Slope YMCA visits which required him to travel long distances with his security detail.
