The hosts of Fox & Friends accused Democrats of inventing coronavirus variants.

They said that the government uses variants to buy more time to solve the supply-chain crisis.

Omicron, the newest COVID-19 variant was first discovered in South Africa. It was not invented by Democrats.
"Fox & Friends' hosts made the absurd suggestion that Democrats were creating new coronavirus varieties to buy time for the Biden administration to address the supply chain crisis.
A Saturday segment aired in which Rachel Campos Duffy, Will Cain and Pete Hegseth discussed how the Omicron coronavirus strain could cause another lockdown that would further impact the supply chain crisis.
Campos Duffy cited remarks made last month by Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg about how the government can't fix the crisis - sparked in part by global shutdowns 2020 - until the pandemic is over.
According to Mediaite, Campos Duffy stated that he had said that he could not fix the supply chain problem until there is a pandemic, or until COVID has ended.
"And now, we see these new variants. That's it. More lockdowns, greater fear, and therefore, he doesn’t have to do the job of fixing the supply chains because "we'll keep the whole thing going," she said.
Both of her co-presenters agreed with this comment. Cain added: "Always new variants," while Hegseth stated: "You can count upon a variant approximately every October, every two year" -- referring to the mid-term election.
Mediaite reports that Hegseth mimics one person over the phone at one point and says: "We're going to need a new variation here."
Insider reached Fox News for comment.
Omicron, also known as the B.1.1.529 variation, was first discovered in Botswana last week. It has since spread to many continents, including Asia and Australia. It is not a hoax on the Democratic side.
Canada reported the first two North American cases of the variant on Sunday.
According to CBS News, Dr. Anthony Fauci is the country's foremost expert on infectious diseases and said that he wouldn't be surprised if the variant made it into the US.
The variant's news prompts governments to ban travel while scientists and public health specialists determine if it is more dangerous than the other variants.
