Facebook is a great way to keep in touch with family and friends. You can also check the site if someone's birthday has passed.

Keep in mind, however, that friends' birthdays won't appear on their profiles if they choose not to share it.

Facebook also offers the ability to hide or limit access to your birthday. And, if desired, you can change your Facebook birthday. This is how it works.

How do you find the birthdays of your Facebook friends

On Facebook, you can see when your friends are celebrating their birthdays on the mobile and desktop versions. .

On the desktop site:

1. Log in to your Facebook account if you need.

2. Please click Events on the left sidebar.

3. Choose Birthdays from the sidebar.

The screen will display your friends' birthdays. It will start with the most recent birthdays, then move on to the upcoming and recent birthdays.

Mobile app:

1. Log in to your Facebook account if you need.

2. Tap on the magnifying glasses icon at the top.

3. Type Births in the search bar, and choose the option at top of screen.

The site will display a list of birthdays of your friends, arranged in the same order as the desktop version.

How to Change Your Birthday on Facebook

There are limitations to the number of birthdays you can change on your Facebook profile.

• Your birthday can only be changed once every two weeks.
• Your birthday can only be changed three times. Once you have changed your birthday three times, you will need to contact Facebook customer service to make it change again. Even then, they may not allow you to make changes.

On the desktop site:

1. Log in to your Facebook account if you need.

2. Select your profile icon in the upper-right corner.

3. Click the About tab at the top right of your profile page.

4 Select Contact information and basic information in the left sidebar.

5. Scroll to your birthday details, and click on the Edit button.

6 You can change your birthday using the drop-down menus.

7. Hit Keep.

Your friends will not be notified, although the information will be updated.

Mobile app:

1. Launch the Facebook app.

2. Tap the profile photo at top of the screen.

3. Choose View Your About Info.

4. Scroll to the bottom and tap Edit right next to Basic Information.

5 To change your birthday details, tap the drop down arrows beside your birth date, year, and month.

6. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete.

How to hide Facebook's birthday

Friends and family members may find it useful to see your birthday on your Facebook page. If you want more privacy, here are some ways to hide it from Facebook.

On the desktop site:

1. Log in to your Facebook account if you need.

2. Select your profile icon in the upper-right corner.

3. Click the Abouttab to the top of your profile page.

4. Select Contact and Basic Information.

5. Scroll to the Basic Information section. Next to your year or birthday, click the Privacy Settings icon left of the edit button.

6. Select who you want to share your birthday information from the options: Friends, Public, Only me, Custom.

Mobile app:

1. Launch the Facebook app.

2. Tap the profile photo at top of the screen.

3. Choose View Your About Info.

4. Scroll to Basic Information and tap Edit.

5 Click the privacy setting button to the right side of your birth or birthday information.

6. Select who you want to share your birthday information from the following options: Public, Friend or Only Me. You can only select Custom viewing privileges on the Facebook website.
