China's mysterious moon cube is no more a mystery. It is a rock that doesn't even look like a cube.

In early December, the Yutu-2 rover of the nation discovered the object. It appeared to be a gray cube that was looming above the lunar horizon. China National Space Administration (CNSA), referring to it as "mysterious cube", speculated that the object might be an alien home or spacecraft.

According to news reports, it was called the "moon cube".

According to "Our space," a blog affiliated with the CNSA, the object was approximately 80 meters (262 feet). The CNSA prepared to drive its rover towards it. According to the blog, it would take about two to three months for the cube to reach.

After weeks of preparation and driving, the rover can see that the "mysterious" hut is only a rock after several weeks. The rover's sharp, geometric appearance at the horizon was simply a trick of perspective, light and shadow.

Below is the latest photo from the rover, as published in an update posted by "Our Space" on Friday.

One of the ground controllers for the rover noted in the blog that this rock resembles a rabbit and has smaller rocks in front that look like carrots. Yutu, the name of Yutu the rover, is also the name for the rock.

In January 2019, Yutu-2 reached its destination on the moon. The Chang'e-4 lander touched the lunar surface and laid out a ramp that allowed the rover to descend. It was the first mission ever to land on the far side the moon.

Yutu-2 has driven more than 1,000m (0.6 miles) in the past three years. Yutu-2 used ground-penetrating radar and discovered a surprising deep layer of lunar soil. He also identified rocks below the crust that were brought to the surface by an asteroid billions of year ago.

Yutu-2 was able to chase wild cubes after the rover survived its initial three-month mission.
